Crockett Colorado Christmas

I have been meaning to do this forever. I need to write it down somewhere. 2014 was an amazing Christmas!
Almost the entire Bob Crockett Family went to Breckenridge, Colorado. Lindsay found an amazing lodge that Bob and Debbie got for us all to stay in. It was amazing and worked out perfectly. Everyone arrived on Saturday, Dec. 20th. We drove from Utah and got there in the evening, literally right before a HUGE snowstorm! It was incredible! We ventured out the next morning for church in Frisco, Colorado and it was an adventure! The roads were really bad and it was majorly coming down! But the small group of us that made it to church were really happy we went. It is just a small group of members there in Frisco, the Christmas program was very good and heartfelt and we all felt the Spirit. And then we safely made it home and hunkered down as the storm continued.
Meals were organized and assigned throughout the week and all turned out delicious. Monday the 22nd was the big snowboarding day for all the guys. Tucker and Luke went too. They went to Copper Mountain, about 40 minutes away. It was a slightly long day back at the lodge with all the women and children, haha. We were kind of stuck there because we didn't have cars to drive. We visited and played and wrote a huge grocery list for the week and decorated the Christmas tree. We got the cousins together to play "duck duck goose" because that was something that Zane was really into at the time. That was fun. I was very happy when Rob was back. It was just nice to see him and the kids were happy he was there. They love their daddy!
Tuesday morning I did the big grocery story run for the rest of the week with Cindy and Alan. That was slightly crazy. The grocery store was packed! And our list was huge! Tuesday was also baking day. Yum! So much good stuff! Fudge and peanut butter chocolate cookies and lemon bars and cheese balls and mint brownies and molasses cookies....It was fantastic!
Wednesday was Christmas Eve. Everyone (but Owen) went sledding in the morning. That was pretty fun. Link liked it more than Zane did. But it was fun to watch everyone and be there together. Bob got royally stuck in a snow drift on the way there. That was funny. Rob, Debbie and I drove up on them. We were saying, "oh look, someone got way stuck.... oh wait, is that?.... yep, that's Bob!" It took all his sons and a stranger with a truck to get him out. Haha. Carly took our little family picture for our New Years Card later that day right out in front of the lodge. It looks like a winter wonderland. And the pictures are beautiful because she is amazing. It was pretty chilly when we were taking them and when the wind would blow, oooo, cold. Right after that Bob, Debbie, Cadence, Maya, Tucker, Luke, Ruby and our family went on a horse drawn sleigh ride. It was a crystal clear afternoon and it was beautiful. It went to a heated tent where we had hot chocolate and cookies and music. The guy playing the guitar started singing a little John Denver and then he broke into "Country Road" much to Zane's delight and Zane just started singing right along! It was very cute. He loves that song. Everyone sang a few Christmas songs together and then we rode the sleighs back to the start. It was fun activity.
That night we had the Christmas Eve program complete with gift exchange and nativity by the grandchildren. Zane was given a ball from Jett and he was completely overjoyed about it. Like insanely overjoyed. Cindy and Alan sang a beautiful duet and, maybe the best thing of the night, Sean wrote a letter for Tadd to read to everyone (Sean didn't come). It was very touching. Love Sean.
Our kids sleeping was the one not-so-great thing about the whole week, they took turns having awful nights, and Christmas Eve was the worst. Lincoln was basically up all night. That made for a somewhat difficult Christmas morning. But we got through it. That day Rob and I got out for a quick snowshoeing outing and the kids all decorated gingerbread houses.
Friday most of the guys went snowboarding again. I got a workout in with Lindsay and Carly and then chased after the boys all day. When the guys got home we had a party in the hot tub, haha.
Saturday, the 27th, was pack-up-and-leave day. Some of us met for breakfast at a restaurant in Frisco before parting ways. It was a fantastic week. Not one stellar thing stands out, it was just the whole combination of all being together and having the spirit of the holidays and of family. Wonderful, magical Christmas. Oh, and Tadd ran into a snowbank on the way out :)
