I have to write a blog about Rob because he is just amazing. I am not doing this to gush but to simply state the facts.
Rob is a terrific father. My new favorite thing is to be in another part of the house and hear Rob talking to Bug. It is especially fun when I can hear it over the baby monitor. He has complete, unabashed adoration and love for Zane and it comes out in his voice and his words when he talks. If you have the opportunity to see his face while he is talking to Zane, the entertainment goes up, because he is very expressive and Zane LOVES it! He gets a kick out of his Dad and you can tell. Rob loves to be with Zane. He spends time talking to him in the morning before he goes to work and can't wait to be with his boy at night when he gets home. He holds him and feeds him and talks to him and plays with him, changes his diapers, helps with tubby time (Zane always has a warm towel when he gets out because Dad is on top of that), and reads him stories before bed (that is fun to hear over the monitor too). He is in love with his little boy and Zane is very much so in love with his Dad.
All those things that Rob does in being a great father help me out a ton! In the evenings I have time to run errands without Bug (making things unequivocally easier) because Rob is always willing to watch him. He lets me have some time to myself and he understands that I need that to help me feel more like me and not just a feeding machine. On top of all that, Rob washes the dishes. I am a lucky woman. And he mops and cleans the bathrooms. That's right, eat your heart out girls, my husband cleans. (Sometimes I actually have a hard time with this because I feel like I should be doing ALL of the housework in order to be a good woman, but I am getting over it). He takes care of the yard too. And he makes the bed in the morning.... Man, what DO I do? He is a perfect husband who, with everything going on, still asks me out on dates and cuddles with me at night. TMI? sorry, but I love it.
Along with that he is an attorney. An associate attorney that has to constantly worry about hours and try to please others while he is at work. Yet he still manages to think about me and Zane while he is at work and he lets us know he loves us. He worries about me when I am sick and does everything to help me. He is excellent at his job and people love him. But he will never believe that. He is always working hard. I admire him so much for that. He is involved at church too. He takes his calling seriously and wants to do a good job.
He loves sports and is passionate about his teams. He may not know it, but I love that about him. It makes life fun (especially when his teams do well). He is an information junky, and while I may not always love that (Rob staring at his phone...) he does find out lots of stuff that pertains to our life and Zane and history or things we are thinking about for our home or stuff we have wondered about or whatever. He can always answer a question and settle any debate (my mom loves that :) ) And it is a big part of who he is.
He is so smart. Intelligent. Wow. I am grateful to have my partner in life be someone I have total confidence in and who I know will take care of his family.
I love him so much. And life over the past few months has just amplified his strengths in my eyes. He is amazing. Hey, I am just saying....

I'm so glad your mom forwarded your blog address to Carolyn who forwarded it onto me. I think about you, Rob, and Zane often. It's wonderful to hear Zane is doing so well and you're still in love as ever. I love you Whitney!
ReplyDeleteThanks Whit. I really don't do that much. I love you.
